Thanks to Butch Valley Jr. of New England Motor Racing Supply, I was given the opportunity to drive a sprint car this past summer. Butch Valley Sr. has known my family through auto racing for decades. The first race car he ever owned was purchased from my grandfather “Tinker”. It was the #77 car and they still use the same number successfully today.

Adam Whitney, owner of Whitney Tree Service, and crew foreman, Matt Bristol, went to Keene, NH to attend the Electrical Hazards Awareness Program. EHAP training is essential amongst tree care industry professionals who want to provide a safe working environment when set up around power lines and is a great way to keep workers safe and ensure OSHA compliance.
The next day, they traveled to a workshop in Dighton, MA to learn some of the latest technology in tree climbing equipment. The Certified Hitch Climber System uses a system of knots and pulleys that reduce friction and wear on a climber’s ropes, thus increasing safety and productivity. The workshop was sponsored by the manufacturers who covered simple and more complex work positioning techniques, rescue and hauling applications, plus additional ways that the pulley can be used in lightweight rigging. Adam and Matt are currently using the Hitch Climber System.
